Monarch School provides specialized hands-on training by highly qualified instructors in maximizing use of popular graphics software, such as Adobe® Photoshop© and Illustrator© for textile and fashion design. New lecture format classes cover woven and knit fabrics and the technology used to create them, and computer hardware basics for graphic designers.

Introduction to Photoshop for Textile Design - Full Day Class, 1/18, 4/11, 9:30am-4:30pm |
Photoshop basics as they apply to textile design, plus Photoshop for design and development of textile-related graphics. Topics include: Working With a Pattern In Repeat; Color Reduction; Creating Stripes and Plaids; Using Filters to Create Textile Effects; and Painting With a Texture.
Prerequisite: Experience working with Mac and basic knowledge of Photoshop. $450

Illustrator for Textile Design - Half Day Class, call for schedule |
Illustrator for design and development of textile-related graphics. Topics include: Repeats; Stripes and Plaids; Textures; Colorways; Gradations & Ombre Effects; and Building Knit and Woven Structures.
Prerequisite: Experience working with Mac and Illustrator. $250

Understanding Woven Fabrics - Half Day Class, 1:30-4:30pm, 2/15 |
An overview of woven fabrics and the technology used to crate them. Participants will examine common fabrics such as plain weave and twills, learn the teminology surrounding their production, see how a handloom works, and classify everyday fabrics. A bibliography, glossary, and workbook with simple illustrations will be provided. No prior woven experience necessary.$250

Understanding Knit Fabrics - Half Day Class, 9:30am-12:30pm, 2/15 |
An overview of knit fabrics and the technology used to create them. Participants will get hands-on experience with a wide variety of knitted fabrics, learn terminology associated withknits, see how a stitch is formed, view various industrial machinery, and classify everyday knit fabrications. A workbook, knit swatches and glossary will be provided. $250
