Monarch Representing ARM Hand-Loom in USA - Extends Tactile Quality of Monarch's CAD Solutions for Wovens

Glendale, NY - While Monarch's CAD technology progresses at breakneck speed, including incredibly realistic and complex simulations of wovens and yarns, the need for hands-on designing remains. "Ultimately, the `hand' of the fabric is its' most compelling feature," says David Matsil, Managing Director for Monarch, "Which is why we are excited to announce that we are representing the ARM Patronic B60 precision sample hand-loom in the USA." The ARM loom electronically interfaces to Pointcarr‚ dobby design software. Other highlights of the ARM loom include:

  • Smooth shedding action
  • 24-harness capacity
  • 20" weaving width
  • High-quality; Swiss-made
  • Compact and sturdy with an even shedding action - ideal for school and design studios where lack of space and different styles of weaving play havoc with the fragile workings of a dobby mechanism
  • Comfortable to use - the beater glides on rollers and the treadles can be adjusted to suit the height of the weaver
  • About half the price of competing looms

"When you're trying to develop fabric qualities or create surface effects, you can instantly create weaves, download them to the loom and quickly weave a sample," says Susan Nestel, Wovens Specialist for Monarch.

The ARM loom is currently in use in by design schools and independent weave designers throughout Europe. Several US-based users exist, as well, including mills and independent wovens designers. Demonstrations of the ARM loom and Pointcarr‚ software are available at Monarch's Manhattan offices.
